Couch 1 – Valentina 0? Almost.
You might think that after running for six and a half years, motivation becomes a switch that is always turned on. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.
Even for me, after running dozens of half marathons abroad, there are days when I have absolutely no desire to go out. Days when I would much rather watch my favourite TV series or simply relax after work.
But I’ve learnt something: running isn’t about extreme discipline — it’s about well-being. When I don’t feel like running, I use my personal “survival kit”:
I make myself run for just 10 minutes — and I usually end up carrying on.
I turn my playlist all the way up and switch off from the world.
I think about the reward: a well-earned beer or a relaxing dinner with my husband.
We don’t need to be elite athletes to feel amazing after a run. We just need the courage to start.
